November 19, 3:00 pm PST - Today is cloudy, misty and cooler (55 degrees). The workers had to clean up the grounds today and are hopefully on their way home. I took the opportunity and drove to the Golden Gate Bridge (45 minutes north) then south on Highway 1 again. I have many photos left to post. We will start in the morning with dog number 84. Monday night the Purina awards were given out at the banquet at Sam's Chowder House. I was under the weather with a cold I brought from Minnesota so I missed the awards. Tuesday Sam's Chowder House came to the field with all the clam chowder and lobster rolls we wanted. Tonight it was very erie after the fog rolled in and it got dark. Nov 17 - 2:15 PST - They are all headed to the third and fourth series course to begin the fourth series at flag number 8. The course is about 17 flags on two courses. We finished the third series about 1:15. The judges gave the fourth series callbacks at 2:00. 36 dogs back to the fourth! Nov 17- 10:30am PST (12:30 CST) Mary called from the field. She is blocked in and unable to get a strong enough signal to post an update. Dogs #43 and #44 are down. This is a shorter course than Series 1 and 2 and so far they have completed 2 laps. The Weather is warm and sunny with variable winds, a nice change from the windy conditions of yesterday. November 17, Wednesday, 6:30 am PST - Todays forecast is 45 to 65. It took a shower to get all the flying dirt off from yesterdays windy conditions. I will let you know when the 3rd series in done and get the 4th series callbacks to you as soon as possible. Have a great day! November 16, Tuesday, 9:00 pm PST - Third series callbacks have just been posted. 53 dogs back to the third! Nov 16, 4:30 PST - I was unable to get reception today from the field. Sorry. Rattlesnake grass and coyote bush is part of the cover (only in CA!) Nov 14, 1:30 PST - We drove about 17 miles down Highway 1 to the training grounds. It was the most beautiful drive to training that I have ever seen with the ocean almost always visible on the right. We can see the ocean from the training grounds and the trial grounds. It is a warm 65 here with a great breeze off the ocean. Many travelers drove through a snow/ice storm in Wyoming to get here. Thank goodness all of us made it. Now I am sitting on my patio looking out over a part of a golf course. It is tough all over ;-) Novebmer 13, Saturday 7:00 pm PST - It snowed during the night in Minneapolis. There was about four inches on the ground by 8:00 am CST and my power went out. The curling iron and the garage door opener don't work well without electricity. The flight was delayed but San Francisco and Half Moon Bay are warm and sunny. Half Moon Bay Lodge is beautiful. I just discovered a small patio outside my patio door. Awesome! November 11, Thursday - Many dogs and handlers are traveling to California now to compete in Donny Mock's NOC to start on Monday. Feel the excitement building? One of the dogs I am dog sitting chewed up my modem this morning. The modem allows me to upload website information right from the field. Back to Verizon before my flight out on Saturday. I wonder what the rest of the traveler are dealing with. Mary Kemper |
