vii) Additional Business Brought before the Meeting (as time permits)
Don Bramwell brought up the limitation of starting the National Amateur after December 1 is restricting to some ICs.
Motion to strike the language of moving the NAC after December 1.  Discussion the weather causing safety issues traveling to and from and during the NAC.  The hope of having a later NAC was, in part, to avoid running FTs in hot weather.  Passed.

New business from Tim Edwards - Our qualifications for voting for NAC judges follow qualification of our dogs for that year's NAC.  It was moved to table the original motion 24 to 23 so delegates can have time to discuss these items with their clubs.  Tim will now present his proposal so that the delegates have time to bring the proposal to their clubs.

Items 3 and 4 of the National Amateur Judges Selection Process Proposal.   Copied here

3.    The owner of a dog qualified to enter the 2009 NAC will be entitled to cast one vote for the 2010 NAC judges. No owner may cast more than one vote, no matter the number of qualified dogs that he/she might own. If a qualified dog is co-owned, only one co-owner is entitled to cast the vote. In no instance will an owner be entitled to cast more than one vote.

4.    A dog that earns a second, third or fourth placement in the 2008 NAC is automatically qualified to enter the 2009 NAC, and the owner of such a dog will be entitled to cast one vote for the 2010 NAC Judges, subject to the “no owner may cast more than one vote” restriction.

A dog that wins the NAC is automatically qualified to enter any subsequent NAC but that does not mean the dog will actually be entered, so we suggest the voting privileges of the owner of that dog be tied to the “active competition” status of the dog. For selection of the 2010 National Judges, this would mean that the owner of any past NAFC entered in the 2009 National, would be entitled to cast one vote, subject to the “no owner may cast more than one vote” restriction. An owner of such a dog would be entitled to cast one vote each year, as long as the dog was entered in the previous year’s NAC.

What about previous NAC winners?  Do they get a vote for life, life of the dog?
Do the votes go with the dog or the handler or the owner?  Should the vote go with competing dogs?

Then Item 7 and 8 were discussed.

7.    Ballots will be returned to the Secretary/Treasurer (or another individual appointed by the delegates) no later than the closing date for entries for the 2009 NAC, at which time the ballots will be counted and the names of the top 10 vote getters announced officially.

8.    At the 2009 delegates meeting three of the ten names will be drawn, by use of a random selection process such as a “Powerball system.”  The first two names drawn will be the judges and the third name drawn will be the alternate for the 2010 NAC.

Mike Wallace stated what an honor it was to be asked to judge a national.  He felt the the random drawing system would take the honor away from it.

John L will form a committee to
to clarify judges selection and proposal be presented next year.  But will wait for consensus within the next 48 hours from the delegates here and present the committee at the banquet.

John L has final say on the committee.

7)    Adjournment at 11:25 am

Note:  Written material concerning some of the agenda itmes listed above may be reviewed at essft.com in the original form presented by the parties submitting such items.  Delegates are urged to review thoroughly and discuss all materials prior to the Delegates meeting.

The Parent Club held its meeting at 11:30 am.  There were only two governors present so there was not a quorum.   A few item were discussed including the inconsistancies of when the AKC fines clubs based on "incomplete information" submitted to them.

Other discusssions continued as the meeting progressed.
