It’s been 20+ years since I attended my first field trial and walked away that day knowing I just had to have one of those exciting little dogs. Up until then, the retriever game held my interest and never did I think that I could do an immediate 180 degree turnaround and head in another direction, but on that day, it happened.

     Now after too many miles and field trials to remember, I look back and reflect on all the opportunities afforded me, not only to trial some pretty competitive dogs, but the pleasure to judge some truly great dogs as well.  This along with the numerous friendships developed throughout the years, have made this time in the field, truly memorable.
     Time spent has taught me that these dogs we all have a passion for, are capable of doing amazing things if given the opportunity, and if totally prepared to handle all situations, usually do pretty well in this game we play.  Of course, having lady luck on your side doesn’t hurt either.
     I am deeply honored to have been selected once again to judge the National Open Championship and look forward to walking behind some of the finest dogs in the country. May the wind be with all who have entered this prestigious event. God Bless.
