Mike Wallace Biography

Mike Wallace

My Dad purchased our first Springer when I was 8 years old in 1966. I’ve had one around every since. As a kid I returned to my home state of Michigan for the opening day of pheasant season for several years and have hunted wild grouse and pheasants in Virginia for almost 30 years now.

Julie and I live in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains in the panhandle of West Virginia where our kennel Salmy Acres is located.

I ran my first field trial in 1987 and have enjoyed the sport and have titled several dogs in Open stakes since 1991 when I started training professionally. I’ve been lucky enough to walk behind some very nice dogs and they have taught me a lot.  I’ve judged over 30 licensed field trials and the Open National in Kansas in 1996. I’m always honored when ask to judge our dogs. It is humbling to know that so many people in this great field trial community especially the professional trainers value my opinion enough to select me to judge this prestigious event the Open National Championship and my commitment is to do my best to be fair and positive and with my co-judges help Tom Menzel and I will do our very best to select the right dog to be named the 2007 National Champion.
Best of luck to all dogs and handlers.
