I started working dogs in 1967, got by first ribbon in 1969. A 3rd place in a puppy stake, I was so proud. Went on to win two Open Nationals. I never keep track of my champions. Lefty was my best dog and a very nice dog to be around. He made me look good. My Grandfather, Herman Mellenthin, won Best in Show with a Cocker two years in a row at Westminster in New York. He also had a duel champion cocker "My Own High Time". I started training with Alex Johnson then Luke Medlin (he had a great way with springers) and finally the great Old lady Ruth Greening. I haven't run in trials in ten years, don't worry I still know what I am doing. I do training seminars for Orvis, teaching people to train their dogs. A lot harder training people than dogs, but I love it. Good luck to all and I will give all of you a good look. Ray Cacchio |
