Amendment to the qualification motion allows all dogs that qualify from July 1, 2005 to November 6, 2006 eligible for the 2006 National Amateur has passed.

The amendment below, made to the qualifications for the 2006 NAC (National Amateur Chamionship) was presented to and accepted by ESSFTA President Dean Reinke, Field Vice President Steve Beyer and NAC General Chairman Jim Boone by Don Bramwell.  It was passed by signatures of a majority of the delegates who were present at the National meeting.
November 17, 2005
QUALIFICATIONS MOTION AS ACCEPTED:
2006 NAC qualification period - July 1, 2005 to July 1, 2006.  Closing will be 30 days prior to the event.  2006 NAC starts December 4, 2006.  Dogs placing July 1 through November 6, 2005 will be grandfathered in for this year only.
AMENDMENT:  In addition, for the calendar year 2006 only, any dog not already qualified for the NAC by the above grandfather clause will be allowed to qualify until the closing date for the 2006 NAC of November 6, 2006.  By qualifying between July 1, 2006 and November 6, 2006, the dogs will also be qualified for the 2007 NAC.  No entries will be accepted after November 6, 2006 regardless of a placement after November 6, 2006

Friday 1:30 pm EST - All the 12 dogs have completed the trial!  I have many photos I will be putting up today and tomorrow, then drive home and put up more photos.

Friday 11:20 am EST – Mary has called in.  They finished the 5th series about ½ hour ago.  Will start the Water Series shortly.  There are 12 dogs that get to go for a swim! Thanks to Jim Boone for the use of his cell phone.  Fifth series course near the 1st and 2nd series grounds with similar cover. The wind is almost a pure crosswind.  Dogs are getting three contacts on average (like the third and fourth series) and usually four dogs are completed per round.

Friday 6 am EST Very cold 20 degrees (only 10 with the wind).  Sunny and thirty for the high.
Many more photos to come.

Thursday 8:30 pm EST 14 dogs back to the fifth series!

Thursday 7 pm EST We finished the fourth series by 5:30.  I will post the fifth series as soon as it is available.

Thursday 2 pm EST  Mary Kemper has just checked in.  There are 26 dogs back to the 4th series.  The 3rd and 4th grounds are gently sloping and the cover is slightly shorter than the 1st and 2nd series.  It is cold with snow off and on.  Each course is 15 flags long for a  total of 30 with the winds making one course a crossing up wind and the other crossing down.  Conditions are tough for the dogs and humans alike.  Thank you to Lynn Christen for the use of her cellphone, again!

Thursday 6:15 am EST A very cold 28 degrees to start the day.  It is more than thirty degrees colder than yesterday morining!  The forecast is for mostly cloudy, windy and a chance of flurries.  Yesterday at times the rain turned to sleet and then back to rain.

Wednesday 7:50 PM EST - 39 dogs back to the  third series!  Thank you to marshals Barb Granatir and Billie Jo Hopkins for notifiying me.

6:20 PM EST We finished the second series at 4:30.  Callbacks for the third series are expected at the Eastern IC Soiree starting at 7:00  I will post them as soon as they are available and pictures later tonight.

1:00 PM EST We finished the first series at 8:45 this morining and went right into the second series.  We have a steady rain with crossing upand dwon wind courses.  Dogs 66 and 62 were running at  1:00 pm.  The rain has finally stopped (for good we hope).  The temperatures are dropping by the hour and the wind is picking up.  Thank you to Lynn Christen for the use of her cellphone and Bob Montler for the use of his office.

6:30 AM EST It is warm this morning 59 degrees.  A storm is expected to come through this morning bringing high winds and much cooler weather

Tuesday 10:30 EST Second series callbacks through dog 105

Tuesday  6:00 (EST) We stopped just before 5 pm.  The last dog to run was dog 105.  We will finish the last seven dogs tomorrow morning.  There were few missed birds today, even fewer pickups and some monster retrieves.  Thank you to Jerry Barrett, Lynn Christen and George Kittle for letting me use there cellphones as my T-Mobile has no coverage in the Alleghany mountains

Tuesday 2 pm -  I just received a call from Mary.  They are calling dog # 70 to the line now.
The rain has subsided for a couple of hours and temps have reached the mid-50’s.
Winds on the courses are now crossing up and down.  Expect to finish the first series this afternoon.

Tuesday 9:45 am - Mary Kemper called from the fields at the NAC with an update.
Just finished the first lap running dogs 19 & 21.  The temperature is 45 degrees with light on and off rain.  The cover is brome, knee to thigh high but consistent.  Light Winds making the first course up wind and the second down wind.
Scenting is marginal and marking is difficult.

Delegates  Meeting November 14, Monday
The caravan to the grounds will leave at 6:45 AM tomorrow morning for the grounds.  (The forecast is for cooler and rain.  Today was mid 60's and sunny)
Dues still $75, Entry fee still $200, and one point to qualify (same)
2007 General chairman will be Daryl Johnson for the West Interclub.
2006 National Amateur Championship to be held in the Hutchinson, McPhearon, Kansas area (Rocky Mountain interclub).
December 4, Monday is the starting date.
To qualify as a NAC judge, he(she) must have run four all age stakes (amateur or open) in the last
two to three years.  Passed 32 for, 10 against and 1 abstained.
After much discussion it was passed (26 to 16) that the qualification period for the 2006 (and subsequent) National Amateurs will be July 1 to July 1.  All dogs placing between July 1, 2005 and July 1, 2006 .  Closing will be 30 days prior to the trial.  All judges on the NAC judges list will be contacted, by mail, and must respond, by mail, to be kept on the judges list.
The votes for the judges will no longer be weighted.  Each participant will vote for four judges instead of ranking them 1 – 4.

November 17, 2006 AMENDMENT:  In addition, for the calendar year 2006 only, any dog not already qualified for the NAC by the above grandfather clause will be allowed to qualify until the closing date for the 2006 NAC of November 6, 2006.  By qualifying between July 1, 2006 and November 6, 2006, the dogs will also be qualified for the 2007 NAC.  No entries will be accepted after November 6, 2006 regardless of a placement after November 6, 2006
