On behalf of the Midwest Interclub I would like to welcome you to the 2004 National Amateur Championship. This years event will be held at the Pyramid State Park complex located six miles south of Pickneyville Illinois on State Route 127. For those of you who have been around awhile, you will recognize the Rend Lake / Mt Vernon area as the home of the National Amateur from 1973 until 1985 with a few exceptions. Again, this year with the outstanding help from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources representative Terry Musser, we will be able to offer what we believe to be the best cover in Illinois. The grounds committee, which consists of Dan Langhans, Marshall Lightfoot, Bob Mueller and myself, have visited the site on numerous occasions and found them to be exceptional. Our judges, which I'm sure need no introduction to anyone in the spaniel game, are Ken Willis from Illinois and Gary Wilson of New York. Both are well- seasoned veterans of the spaniel community. The Rend Lake Resort and Conference Center will host the 2004 National Amateur Championship. Be sure to ask for the ESSFTA discount. The address and phone number are 11712 E Windy Lane, Whittington Il 62897, Ph 800-633-3341. Visit them at www.rendlakeresort.net We look forward to seeing all of you this winter in what we believe could be the best National Championship ever. So come early and stay late. The best is yet to come. Good luck to all. See you in December.
