| National Amateur Judge 2004
Gary Wilson
I was born and raised in Western Massachusetts. My dad had Springer’s and coon hounds. Even though our Springer’s were barely trained our autumn harvest was abundant with grouse, woodcock and a combination of stocked and native pheasants. I bought my first field breed Springer from Julius Farkas in 1969 but it wasn’t until 1975 that I got involved in field trials and joined the Bushy Hill field trial club. I learned a lot from John Mangrine and Ed Faraci. In the 70’s I trained a lot with Jim Cappelli. Ruth Greening was my first client as a professional; I learned a lot from Ruthie. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1969 with a bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education. I also attended East Stroudsburg State College in P.A. I currently live with my wife Cindy Goode-Wilson in the southern tier of New York State. We have 200 acres of beautiful grounds that we train Spaniels on. I have two sons, Gary Jr and his wife Jean and their two children, Dillon and Amelia. My other son Kurt and his wife Angela live a mile down the road from us in New York. I want to thank everyone for asking me to judge the Amateur Nationals; this is a great honor for me. I am looking forward to judge this event with my long time friend Ken Willis. I wish everyone Good Luck and have fun! Gary A Wilson
