The annual meeting of the
English Springer Spaniel National Amateur Championship
was held November 21, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, Lima, Ohio.

General Chairman Bob Bertoncini called the meeting to order.   Secretary Patricia Bramwell took the roll call.  There were 47 delegates present and 52 clubs that had paid their dues.

Motion was made by Dean Reinke and seconded that the 2002 NAC Minutes be accepted.  Carried.

Motion was made by Ed Faraci and seconded that the 2002 NAC Treasures Report be accepted.  Carried.

Motion was made by Dean Reinke and seconded that the 2004 club dues remain at $75.00 per club.  Carried

Ed Faraci gave a short talk on how the Nomination Committee worked.  Basically, one person from each interclub is selected.  The committee was Bob Child (West), Bob Iversen (Rocky Mt), Jason Givens (Mid West), Jim Boone (Mid East) and Ed Faraci (East).    These people in turn decide upon the General Chairman for the next National Amateur.  This year, the next General Chair would be for 2006.  Bob Murdock has been selected.  The national will be held in the Rocky Mountain Interclub.  GC Bertoncini asked if there were any objections.  Carried.

Bob Mueller gave his report on the 2004 NAC.  He said it will be at Pyramid State Park (IL) which is approximately six miles south of Pinckneyville.    This is approximately 75 miles south of St. Louis, MO, and 75 miles north of  Paducah, KY.  We have 650 acres available to us.  There will be three areas with different cover; 1) Indian grass 2) switch grass 3) brome.  The Rend Lake area will be headquarters, a resort setting.  Bob said that December 6 would be the start date but that was later corrected that December 6 would be the training day.  The Nat’l Open will start November 28, 2004 in Kansas.

There was a lot of discussion on the qualifying points.  It was discussed that we increase the points from one to three but if you were already an AFC then you could qualify with only 1 point; weighted situation; leaving it at one point; limiting it to the top 100 dogs or a bit more if there was a tie; eliminating 4th place.  Ed Faraci made a motion that we leave the qualifying point at one.  Mark Haglin asked to amend the motion to read to deleting the one point, adding three points and adding if you’re an AFC then qualifying with one point.  The amendment was seconded.  A roll call vote was taken on the amendment.  It did not carry.  We then did a roll call vote on Ed’s original motion to leave the qualifying point at one.  Carried.

A motion was made by Ed Faraci and seconded that we increase the entry fee to $175.  Ray Paolucci amended this motion to read $200.  This amendment carried.  We then voted to change the entry fee to $200.  Carried.

2004 Judges are Ken Willis and Gary Wilson.

A motion was made by Dean Reinke and seconded that Secretary Bramwell send out Judges Ballots at the beginning of the year vs with the premiums.  We would not know who the judges were at the annual meeting, but would know later.  Secretary Bramwell said she could/would send out the ballots sometime in January with a 30 day time frame for the ballots to be returned to her NLT February 15.  Passed.

Cathy Lewis said there was nothing new to report on the Finance Committee.

A motion was made by Jim Boone to accept the date of November 12, 2005 in Altoona, PA area for the 2005 NAC.  After a lot of discussion Mark Haglin made a motion to table this motion until next year.  Carried.

Don Bramwell discussed the cost of the catalogs.  A motion was made by Esther Faraci and seconded that a committee be set up to look into it.  Dean Reinke volunteered to head this committee with Mhari Peschel and Don Bramwell on the committee.  Carried.

A motion was made by Bob Ryan and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 12:30 p.m.  Carried.

Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Bramwell
Field Trial Secretary
