Hola Compadres! Bienvenides a Tejas!
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to the first ever National Amateur English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Championship (NAC) to be held in Huntsville, Texas. Us Texans are very excited to be your hosts and are working hard to insure a true set of Championship series for all participants. And of course, we (Betty Somers – Chief Hostess) plan to couple this with a heavy dose of "southern hospitality" that will not soon be forgotten!
It can hardly get better than December in South Texas, and while I would recommend you bring your raingear, this is certainly not the rainy season. Temperatures can vary from just below freezing to 60 degrees F but should not be brutally hot or cold so the dogs can give it their all. We have two separate sets of grounds, both within an easy 8 miles of the Headquarters, which will provide a good range of cover to challenge our dogs. To judge our challenged dogs, we are fortunate to have Bob Ryan and Ralph Botti coming from east of the Appalachians. Both have frequented the Nationals for many years and have been known to have a great dog every now and then, so I need not say more here but if you want the inside scoop on our judges go to our website at http://www.essft.com/ and check out their bios.
Speaking of the website, Tom Radde has just about everything you need to know about the NAC except how to get your Fido qualified! You will also get the details once qualified from our Secretary, Pat Bramwell (kstridon@websurf.net), via each local FT Secretary but let me give you some of most important information:
